Launch webinar: New requirements for cosmetic products with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel

The Nordic launch webinar on the new criteria for cosmetic products for Danish licence holders was held on Wednesday 22 January 2025.

At the webinar, the participants were given a presentation of the new criteria and an overview of how they differ from the current requirements. There was also a short introduction on how to get started with the application process.

Whats new in generation 4.0.?

Below you will find the most significant changes compared to the current criteria (generation 3), which will be presented on the webinar.

The most significant changes in relation to the current criteria for cosmetic products with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel:

  • O4 Certified raw materials from oil palms: raw materials from palm oil or palm kernel oil must be RSPO certified
  • O6 Microplastics: update of definition for microplastics
  • O7 Excluded substances: update of definition for endocrine-disrupting substances
  • O11 Fragrance allergens: update of perfume requirements applies to the extended list of perfume allergens according to Annex III to the cosmetics regulation
  • O18 aNBO (aerobic non-biodegradable organics) and anNBO (anaerobic non-biodegradable organics): Tightening of limit values
  • O19 Critical dilution volume (CDV): Tightening of limit values
  • O20 Biodegradability and aquatic toxicity: Tightening of limit values
  • O25 Wipe material: Plastic fibers in wet wipes are not permitted
  • O32-O37 Packaging requirements: many new requirements
