The product group include refurbished OEM toner and ink cartridges.
Nordic Swan Ecolabel toner and ink cartridges are originally manufactured by the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), and are then reused, after refurbishment and refilling with toner powder or ink.
Strict requirements ensure that the products promote a more circular economy, reduces climate impact and saves resources.
The requirements include:
- Use of a high proportion of reused materials (at least 75%) and test of printing quality and capacity.
- Strict environmental and health requirements for the toner powder and ink used in the products e.g. PFAS, bisphenols, and identified and potential endocrine disruptors on up-to-date lists from EU and national authorities are not allowed.
- The contents of heavy metals and VOC in the toner powder and ink used in the products must be tested and meet strict limits.
- A take-back system for used cartridges.

** Where audits require more than one day away from the office including travelling, Nordic Ecolabelling can invoice an additional fee of 1,115 € per extra day. Other extraordinary costs induced by the audit can also be invoiced the applicant.
*** The renewal fee only applies if the application has been signed and submitted before end of the validity of the licence. Else the normal application fee will apply.
**** Administrative tasks that takes less than 1 hour will not be invoiced.
